When we think of fitness or of being in the pink of health we are very often thinking of physical fitness (or appearance), or the absence of an obvious ailment or pain, or the presence of some physical acuity or strength, or not being over wieght or under weight.
Correcting for this misuse, fitness professionals and health professionals use the term total fitness, that is, being fit in body, mind and spirit. They are refering to 'wholeness of being.'
In fact, to be totally fit as a modern human encompases personal wholeness across four human performance elements:
- Physical Fitness
- Mental Strength
- Emotional Agility and
- Spiritual Stability
While we will address these four elements separately, they are in reality integrated into the totality of being, especialy as it regards personal performance and, more specifically, competence.
Society, with health and fitness industries and institutions often in the lead, is in constant search for ever more accurate relevant measures of these four elements and for best practices that would engender competitive advantage and life balance.
