- GROUND GAME NOTES & REVIEW -

Ground Stroke Swing Patterns are very important.

The following video demonstrates the swing patterns we've been practicing. Your consistency will improve dramatically if the height of your 'down swing' replicates what you see here in the Andy Murray forehand visual, rather than the height shown in the video. Note as well how focused Andy's eyes are on the incoming ball. Very important.

Chin Up Set Up - Murray

Chin Up Finish - Federer

Chin Up Backhand - Serena

FOREHAND IN SLOW MOTION

THINGS TO NOTE:

  1. Eyes focused on the ball
  2. Left elbow pointed in the direction of incoming ball
  3. Racket in the ready in preparation to go low - then through the ball - arcing freely - finisiging in a wrap high around the shoulder
  4. NOTICE HIS HEAD REMAINS STEADY, NEVER LOOKING TO TO SEE THE FLIGHT OF THE BALL THROUGHOUT THE STROKE after he drives it
  5. Chin lands on the right shoulder at the completion of the stroke.

Let's take an isolated look at those two strokes

(Forehand and Backhand)
